Welcome to our site about Jack Bell Prostrate Center

The prostate is really a gland that is an important part of the male sexual organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate gland. The prostate's overriding role is to first secrete and then store a see-through liquid that is a vital part of semen. A non-diseased human's prostate gland is slightly larger in size than a walnut. The prostate surrounds the urethra below the urinary bladder. It is also situated in front of the rectal region and a portion of it can be felt during a rectal exam or evaluation.

Inflammation in the prostate is a gland that is known as prostatitis. If the prostate gets too enlarged it can hinder the urine stream, making urination very painful and more difficult and in very extreme instances wholly impassable. Prostatitis is treated with antibiotics, massage of the prostate or even surgical procedures.

In elderly males, the prostate may grow to the point where urination becomes difficult or impossible. This is referred to as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. It can be treated with different types of medicinal drugs or with surgery that removes a portion of the prostate. One common surgical procedure used in such cases is called transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR or TURP).

Prostatic cancer is one of the most frequent cancers to strike elderly men and a leading cause of deaths. Consistent rectal exams are highly recommended to discover prostate cancer before it spreads. There can be also a lab blood test that can measure the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is, in normal men, quite low. Elevated pSA blood results might be an indicator of disease inside the prostate, either prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can cause a physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or operations. It has recently been found that drugs such as Docetaxel can sometimes be useful in the treatment of a cancerous prostate.

Stimulation of the prostate in men is typically compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massage of the prostate either for health-related or primarily for sexual fulfillment.
