Elevated bloodwork PSA results might signal disorder within the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between them, but can cause a physician to investigate more. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even surgery. It has only recently been noticed that drugs including Docetaxel can sometimes be useful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
