Wecome to this site about Prostrate cancer in gay men
The prostate is a gland that is a vital component of the male sexual organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The prostate gland's main function is to produce and then store a see-through liquid that is a component of seminal fluid. A normal individual's prostate gland is a little bit heftier in size than a walnut. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It is situated in front of the rectum and a portion of it can be felt during the normal course of a rectal examination.
Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is termed prostatitis. If the prostate grows too large it can block the urine stream, making urination very painful and more difficult and in extreme situations totally impassable. Prostatitis can be treated with antibiotic medications, prostate massage or even operations.
In older-aged males, the prostate may enlarge to the point where urinating is difficult. This is commonly known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly called BPH. It can be treated with medication or with even surgical procedures that removes part of the prostate. One common operation used in these types of cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TUR or TURP).
Prostate cancer is one of the most commonplace cancers to affect older-aged men and a leading cause of death. Regular rectal exams are highly recommended to uncover prostate cancer before it spreads. There is also a blood test that can measure the concentration of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which is, in normal men, very low. Raised blood PSA results might indicate a disease within the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or a cancerous prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can cause your doctor to investigate more. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgical measures. It has just recently been observed that drugs like Docetaxel can be helpful in the treatment of cancer.
Stimulating the prostate in males is typically compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massage of the prostate whether for health-related or just for sexual fulfillment.
