This page is all about adenoma in prostrate
The prostate is a gland that is a vital component of the sex organs of the male. It is mistakenly called the prostrate, rather than prostate. The prostate gland's most primary function is to produce and then store a clear liquid that is part of semen, or seminal fluid. A non-diseased human's prostate gland is a bit bigger in size than a shelled walnut. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra underneath the bladder. It is also located in front of the rectal area and part of it can be felt during the course of the rectal part of the exam.
Inflammation of the prostate gland is named prostatitis. If the prostate becomes enlarged too much it can impede the flow of urine, making urination painful and difficult and in very extreme cases completely impassable. Prostatitis can usually be treated with antibiotic drugs, prostate massage or even surgical procedures.
In men who are older, the prostate may enlarge to the point where urination becomes difficult. This is termed benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. It can be treated with different types of medications or with surgical measures that removes a portion of the prostate. One very typical surgical procedure used in such cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TURP or TUR).
Prostatic cancer is one of the most commonplace cancers that affects older men and a leading cause of death. Consistent rectal exams are medically recommended to find prostate cancer early. There is also a lab blood test that can measure the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is normally quite low. Elevated blood PSA results may signal disorder inside the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for a doctor to investigate more closely. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgical procedures. It has only recently been noted that drugs like Docetaxel may be effective in treating a cancerous prostate.
Stimulating the prostate in males is typically compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massage of the prostate whether for clinical or strictly for sexual purposes.
