This page is all about back pain with bph

The prostate is part of the male sex organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The prostate gland's leading job is to secrete and store a see-through liquid that is part of semen (seminal fluid). A sound human prostate is somewhat larger than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It is located in front of the rectal region and a portion of it can be felt during a rectal exam or evaluation.

Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is named prostatitis. If the prostate grows too enlarged it can block the urine stream, making urination very painful and more difficult and in extreme situations totally impossible. Prostatitis is commonly treated with antibiotics, prostate massage or even surgical procedures.

In elderly males, the prostate may enlarge to the point where urination is difficult. This is commonly known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. It can be treated with medicinal drugs or with even surgical procedures that removes a portion of the prostate. One commonplace surgery used in these types of cases is called transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP or TUR).

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers that affects older men and a major cause of death. Regular rectal exams are recommended to find prostate cancer early. There can be also a blood evaluation that measures the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is, in normal men, quite low. Elevated blood PSA results may suggest disease within the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can be grounds for a doctor to investigate more closely. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or operations. It has recently been noticed that drugs including Docetaxel are helpful in treating prostate cancer.

Stimulating the prostate in men has been compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for clinical value or for strictly sexual purposes.
