The prostate is a vital component of the male sex organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly called the prostrate, rather than prostate. The prostate gland's most important role is to first produce and then store a transparent liquid that is an important part of semen (seminal fluid). A healthy human prostate is a little bit heftier in size than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. Cancer of the prostate is one of the most frequent cancers affecting older-aged males and a leading cause of deaths. Regular rectal exams are highly recommended to detect prostate cancer before it spreads. There is also also a laboratory blood test that will measure the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which should normally be very low. Raised bloodwork PSA results can signify disorder inside the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or a cancerous prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can lead your physician to investigate with further tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even surgical procedures. It has only recently been found that medicines such as Docetaxel can sometimes be helpful in treating prostate cancer.

Stimulating the prostate in males is frequently compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate either for clinical or just for sexual purposes.
