The prostate gland is an important part of the masculine sexual organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for a doctor to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or operations. It has recently been discovered that medications including Docetaxel are useful in the treatment of a cancerous prostate.
