The prostate is an important part of the masculine sexual organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly called the prostrate, rather than prostate. The prostate's most important role is to first secrete and then store a transparent liquid that is a vital part of seminal fluid (semen). The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can cause a doctor to investigate with additional tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgery. It has recently been noticed that drugs like Docetaxel can be helpful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
