Wecome to this site about discharge coming from the prostate gland
The prostate is really a gland that is an important part of the sex organs of the male. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The prostate's predominant function is to produce and then store a transparent liquid that is a component of seminal fluid (semen). A healthy man's prostate gland is somewhat larger than a walnut. The prostate surrounds the urethra just below the bladder. It is also positioned in front of the rectal region and part of it can be felt during the course of a rectal exam or evaluation.
Inflammation in the prostate is a gland that is named prostatitis. If the prostate becomes too large it can impede the flow of urine, making urination difficult and painful and in very severe cases entirely impassable. Prostatitis can usually be treated with antibiotic medications, prostate massage or even surgery.
In older-aged men, the prostate may grow to the point where urinating is difficult. This is referred to as benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly termed BPH. It can be treated with medicinal drugs or with even surgery that removes a component of the prostate. One commonplace operation used in such cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TUR or TURP).
Prostatic cancer is one of the most frequent cancers to strike elderly men and a major cause of deaths. Consistent rectal exams are recommended to detect prostate cancer before it spreads. There is also a laboratory blood test that will measure the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which is normally very low. Raised bloodwork PSA results could signal disease in the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can be a reason for a physician to investigate more. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgical procedures. It has only recently been observed that medications like Docetaxel can be effective in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Stimulating the prostate in men is typically compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful experience of orgasm. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for clinical value or strictly sexual fulfillment.
