The prostate gland is a vital component of the male sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate. Its leading job is to produce and store a clear liquid that is an important part of seminal fluid. A non-diseased human prostate is a little bit bigger than a walnut. Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is named prostatitis. There can be also a blood evaluation that measures the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is, in normal men, quite low. Raised test results may highly suggest disorder in the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or a cancerous prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can lead a doctor to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even surgery. It has recently been detected that medications including Docetaxel are helpful in treating a cancerous prostate.

Stimulation of the prostate in men has been compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massage of the prostate either for health-related or strictly sexual purposes.
