Welcome to our site about fdg prostate exam
The prostate is a gland that is a vital part of the male sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly called the prostrate gland. Its overriding job is to first produce and then store a clear fluid that is an important part of semen, or seminal fluid. A sound individual's prostate is a little bit larger than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It is situated in front of the rectum and a portion of it can be felt during the course of a rectal exam.
Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is named prostatitis. If the prostate becomes too large it can hinder the urine stream, making urination very painful and difficult and in severe instances wholly impassable. Prostatitis can often be treated with antibiotic medications, prostate massage or even surgery.
In older males, the prostate can grow to the point where urination becomes difficult. This is commonly known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. It can be treated with medications or with even surgery that removes a portion of the prostate. One commonplace surgical procedure used in these types of cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TUR or TURP).
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers to affect elderly males and a leading cause of dying. Regular rectal exams are medically recommended to uncover prostate cancer in the early stages. There is also also a blood evaluation that can measure the amount of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which should normally be very low. Raised test results may indicate a disorder inside the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can lead a physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or surgical procedures. It has just recently been uncovered that medications like Docetaxel could be helpful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Stimulation of the prostate in males has been compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful experience of orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for clinical value or strictly sexual fulfillment.
