There is also also a laboratory blood test that measures the amount of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which should normally be very low. Elevated pSA blood results could suggest disorder inside the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for a physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or surgical procedures. It has only recently been detected that drugs like Docetaxel are useful in the treatment of cancer.
