The prostate is a component of the male sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate, rather than prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be a reason for your physician to investigate more closely. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgical measures. It has only recently been noted that medicines such as Docetaxel are effective in the treatment of prostate cancer.
