Welcome. Here is a site about impotence from prostate cancer surgery
The prostate gland is an important part of the masculine sexual organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly known as the prostrate, rather than prostate. The prostate gland's most important role is to first produce and then store a clear fluid that is part of seminal fluid. A non-diseased man's prostate is a bit bigger in size than a shelled walnut. It surrounds the urethra beneath the urinary bladder. It is located in front of the rectum and part of it can be felt during the course of a rectal evaluation.
Inflammation in the prostate gland is named prostatitis. If the prostate becomes too large it can obstruct urine flow, making urination very painful and more difficult and in very extreme cases completely impassable. Prostatitis can be treated with antibiotics, prostate massage or surgical measures.
In men who are older, the prostate may enlarge to the point where urinating becomes difficult or impossible. This is known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. It can be treated with the use of medication or with surgical procedures that removes part of the prostate. One commonplace surgery used in such cases is called transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP or TUR).
Prostatic gland cancer is one of the most common cancers that strikes older men and a leading cause of deaths. Consistent rectal exams are highly recommended to detect prostate cancer early. There is also a laboratory blood test that can measure the amount of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is normally very low. Elevated blood PSA results might suggest disease inside the prostate, either prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or a cancerous prostate. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for a physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgery. It has just recently been found that drugs such as Docetaxel may be useful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Stimulating the prostate gland in males is often compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful experience of orgasm. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for health-related or for strictly sexual purposes.
