Wecome to this site about infections of testes and prostate

The prostate is a gland that is a vital component of the masculine sexual organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly known as the prostrate gland. Its overriding function is to secrete and then store a clear liquid that is a component of semen (seminal fluid). A normal man's prostate is a little bit greater in size than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra below the bladder. It is located in front of the rectum and part of it can be felt during a rectal examination.

Inflammation in the prostate gland is called prostatitis. If the prostate becomes too enlarged it can impede the flow of urine, making urination difficult and painful and in extreme cases wholly impossible. Prostatitis is treated with antibiotic drugs, massage of the prostate or even operations.

In older-aged men, the prostate often enlarges to the point where urination becomes difficult or impossible. This is called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It can be treated with different types of medications or with surgical procedures that removes part of the prostate. One common surgical procedure used in these types of cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TURP or TUR).

Cancer of the prostate gland is one of the most common cancers that affects older males and a major cause of death. Regular rectal exams are medically recommended to pick up prostate cancer before it spreads. There is also a blood evaluation that measures the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is also normally quite low. Elevated bloodwork PSA results might be an indicator of disorder in the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can lead a doctor to investigate with additional tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or operations. It has just recently been observed that medicines like Docetaxel are effective in the treatment of a cancerous prostate.

Stimulating the prostate in males is typically compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate either for clinical or for strictly sexual fulfillment.
