The prostate gland is part of the male sexual organs. It is mistakenly called the prostrate. The prostate's most important job is to secrete and store a see-through liquid that is a vital component of semen, or seminal fluid. Elevated bloodwork PSA results could suggest disease within the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can cause your doctor to investigate more. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgical measures. It has just recently been noted that drugs such as Docetaxel may be useful in treating a cancerous prostate.

Stimulation of the prostate gland in males is often compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful experience of orgasm.
