The prostate is a gland that is an important part of the male sexual organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can lead your doctor to investigate with further tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgical measures. It has recently been noted that medications like Docetaxel can sometimes be effective in the treatment of prostate cancer.
