The prostate gland is a vital component of the masculine sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate gland. The prostate gland's most primary role is to secrete and then store a see-through fluid that is a vital component of semen. A healthy human prostate gland is slightly larger than a walnut. There is also a blood test that measures the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which is normally quite low. Elevated blood PSA results might indicate a disorder in the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between them, but can cause a physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or operations. It has only recently been observed that medications including Docetaxel could be effective in the treatment of prostate cancer.

Stimulation of the prostate in males is frequently compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful sexual climax.
