The prostate is really a gland that is an important part of the masculine sexual organs. It is mistakenly called the prostrate gland. Its principle function is to secrete and store a transparent fluid that is a vital part of seminal fluid (semen). A sound human's prostate is a little bit bigger in size than a walnut. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between them, but can be grounds for your physician to investigate more thoroughly. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even operations. It has only recently been found that medications including Docetaxel can sometimes be useful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
