The prostate is a vital part of the sex organs of the male. It is mistakenly known as the prostrate, rather than prostate. Its most paramount job is to secrete and store a see-through liquid that is a component of seminal fluid. A normal man's prostate is somewhat greater in size than a walnut. Consistent rectal exams are highly recommended to detect prostate cancer in the early stages. There is also a laboratory blood evaluation that can measure the concentration of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which should normally be very low. Elevated blood PSA results can be an indicator of disorder in the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for your physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgery. It has just recently been noted that drugs such as Docetaxel could be effective in the treatment of a cancerous prostate.

Stimulation of the prostate gland in men is frequently compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for medical value or primarily for sexual fulfillment.
