Welcome. Here is a site about preparations for prostate ultrasound

The prostate gland is a vital part of the masculine sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The prostate gland's primary job is to secrete and then store a transparent liquid that is an important part of semen (seminal fluid). A healthy individual's prostate gland is slightly bigger than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra beneath the bladder. It is also situated in front of the rectum and a portion of it can be felt during the normal course of a rectal examination.

Inflammation of the prostate gland is termed prostatitis. If the prostate becomes too enlarged it can jam up the urine stream, making urination difficult and very painful and in severe instances completely impassable. Prostatitis is treated with antibiotic prescription drugs, prostate massage or surgery.

In men who are elderly, the prostate may enlarge to the point where urination becomes difficult or impossible. This is referred to as benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly termed BPH. It can be treated with prescription medications or with even operations that removes a portion of the prostate. One common surgical procedure used in such cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TURP or TUR).

Prostatic cancer is one of the most frequent cancers that strikes older males and a major cause of dying. Regular rectal exams are recommended to uncover prostate cancer in the early stages. There can be also a lab blood test that measures the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is, in normal men, quite low. Raised blood PSA results could highly suggest disease in the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for your doctor to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even operations. It has only recently been found that medications such as Docetaxel may be useful in treating cancer.

Stimulation of the prostate in males is typically compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or milking refers to massage of the prostate either for clinical or for strictly sexual purposes.
