The prostate is a gland that is a component of the masculine sexual organs. It is mistakenly known as the prostrate gland. The prostate's chief function is to first secrete and then store a see-through liquid that is a vital part of seminal fluid. A sound human prostate is a bit greater in size than a walnut. Elevated bloodwork PSA results might suggest disorder within the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or prostate cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between them, but can cause a doctor to investigate with additional tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgery. It has only recently been uncovered that medications such as Docetaxel may be helpful in the treatment of cancer.

Stimulation of the prostate gland in men is often compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate either for medical value or strictly for sexual fulfillment.
