The prostate gland is a vital component of the masculine sex organs. It is mistakenly known as the prostrate. Raised blood PSA results could suggest disorder inside the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or a cancerous prostate. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for your physician to investigate more closely. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even surgical measures. It has only recently been noted that drugs including Docetaxel can sometimes be helpful in treating prostate cancer.
