The prostate is really a gland that is an important part of the sex organs of the male. The prostate is mistakenly called the prostrate. Elevated blood PSA results may suggest disease within the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or surgery. It has recently been observed that medicines such as Docetaxel can be effective in the treatment of prostate cancer.
