This page is about prostate cures without surgery
The prostate is a component of the male sexual organs. The prostate is mistakenly called the prostrate, rather than prostate. The prostate's main function is to secrete and store a see-through liquid that is an important part of seminal fluid or semen. A healthy individual's prostate gland is slightly bigger than a shelled walnut. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra underneath the bladder. It is also positioned in front of the rectum and part of it can be felt during the rectal examination.
Inflammation in the prostate is a gland that is known as prostatitis. If the prostate gets too enlarged it can hinder urine flow, making urination painful and difficult and in extreme instances completely impassable. Prostatitis is commonly treated with antibiotics, massage of the prostate or even surgery.
In older men, the prostate often enlarges to the point where urination becomes difficult or impossible. This is commonly known as bPH/benign prostatic hyperplasia. It can be treated with the use of medicines or with even operations that removes part of the prostate. One common operation used in such cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TURP or TUR).
Cancer of the prostate is one of the most frequent cancers that strikes older-aged males and a leading cause of death. Regular rectal exams are recommended to find prostate cancer before it spreads. There is also a lab blood test that will measure the concentration of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which is also normally very low. Raised blood PSA results could indicate a disorder within the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or a cancerous prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can lead a doctor to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even operations. It has recently been detected that medicines such as Docetaxel are helpful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Stimulation of the prostate in men has been compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful experience of orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massage of the prostate whether for medical value or just for sexual fulfillment.
