The prostate gland is part of the sex organs of the male. The prostate gland is mistakenly called the prostrate, rather than prostate. Regular rectal exams are medically recommended to detect prostate cancer before it spreads. There can be also a laboratory blood evaluation that can measure the concentration of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which should normally be quite low. Raised bloodwork PSA results can signal disorder in the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for your doctor to investigate with further tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgery. It has just recently been found that medicines such as Docetaxel can be effective in the treatment of a cancerous prostate.

Stimulating the prostate gland in men is frequently compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massage of the prostate either for clinical value or strictly for sexual fulfillment.
