There is also a blood evaluation that can measure the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is also normally quite low. Elevated bloodwork PSA results can indicate a disorder inside the prostate, either prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or a cancerous prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can lead a physician to investigate more. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or operations. It has only recently been uncovered that medicines including Docetaxel are helpful in the treatment of cancer.

Stimulation of the prostate gland in males is frequently compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful orgasm.
