Welcome to our site about prostatitis and vitamins
The prostate is a gland that is part of the masculine sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate gland. The prostate gland's main role is to produce and then store a see-through liquid that is an important part of semen, or seminal fluid. A sound human prostate is slightly bigger than a shelled walnut. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra underneath the urinary bladder. It is situated in front of the rectal area and a portion of it can be felt while undergoing a rectal evaluation.
Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is termed prostatitis. If the prostate grows too much in size it can block the urine stream, making urination painful and difficult and in very extreme instances completely impassable. Prostatitis can often be treated with antibiotic prescription medications, massage of the prostate or even surgery.
In men who are elderly, the prostate can enlarge to the point where urinating is difficult. This is known as bPH/benign prostatic hyperplasia. It can be treated with the use of medicines or with even surgical procedures that removes a portion of the prostate. One very typical surgery used in such cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TUR or TURP).
Prostatic gland cancer is one of the most common cancers to strike older males and a leading cause of death. Regular rectal exams are medically recommended to discover prostate cancer early. There is also a blood evaluation that measures the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which should normally be very low. Raised blood PSA results could indicate a disorder within the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or prostate cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can cause your physician to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgical measures. It has only recently been noticed that drugs like Docetaxel could be effective in treating a cancerous prostate.
Stimulating the prostate gland in males is frequently compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate either for clinical or strictly for sexual purposes.
