The prostate is really a gland that is a vital part of the male sexual organs. It is mistakenly known as the prostrate. Raised pSA blood results could signify disorder within the prostate, either prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between them, but can lead your doctor to investigate with additional tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgical procedures. It has recently been detected that medicines such as Docetaxel could be effective in treating cancer.
