Welcome to our site about prostatitis right side pain
The prostate gland is an important part of the masculine sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The prostate gland's leading role is to produce and store a see-through liquid that is a vital component of seminal fluid or semen. A healthy human prostate gland is a bit bigger in size than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra underneath the urinary bladder. It is also positioned in front of the rectum and a portion of it can be felt while undergoing a rectal evaluation.
Inflammation in the prostate is a gland that is called prostatitis. If the prostate grows too large it can hinder urine flow, making urination painful and difficult and in extreme instances wholly impossible. Prostatitis is treated with antibiotic prescription drugs, massage of the prostate or even surgical procedures.
In men who are elderly, the prostate can grow to the point where urinating is difficult. This is commonly known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly called BPH. It can be treated with medication or with even surgical procedures that removes a component of the prostate. One common operation used in such cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TURP or TUR).
Prostatic cancer is one of the most frequent cancers to strike elderly males and a major cause of dying. Regular rectal exams are highly recommended to detect prostate cancer in the early stages. There can be also a lab blood test that will measure the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is, in normal men, quite low. Elevated test results can suggest disorder inside the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be a reason for a physician to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgery. It has just recently been found that drugs such as Docetaxel may be useful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Stimulating the prostate in males is frequently compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can lead to more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for medical value or primarily for sexual fulfillment.
