This page is all about prostrate cancer treatment and memory loss
The prostate is really a gland that is an important part of the male sexual organs. It is mistakenly called the prostrate gland. The prostate's predominant job is to first produce and then store a see-through fluid that is a component of semen, or seminal fluid. A healthy human prostate gland is slightly greater in size than a walnut. The prostate surrounds the urethra below the urinary bladder. It is also located in front of the rectal region and part of it can be felt while undergoing a rectal exam or evaluation.
Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is known as prostatitis. If the prostate becomes too enlarged it can obstruct urine flow, making urination very painful and difficult and in very extreme cases totally impassable. Prostatitis can be treated with antibiotics, prostate massage or surgical procedures.
In men who are elderly, the prostate may enlarge to the point where urination becomes difficult or impossible. This is named benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly termed BPH. It can be treated with the use of prescription medications or with even operations that removes a component of the prostate. One very typical surgery used in such cases is called transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP or TUR).
Cancer of the prostate is one of the most frequent cancers affecting elderly males and a leading cause of deaths. Consistent rectal exams are medically recommended to uncover prostate cancer in the early stages. There is also a lab blood test that measures the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which is normally very low. Elevated pSA blood results may indicate a disorder in the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between them, but can cause your physician to investigate more thoroughly. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even operations. It has just recently been noted that drugs including Docetaxel can be effective in treating cancer.
Stimulation of the prostate in males is often compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful experience of orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate either for clinical value or strictly sexual purposes.
