The prostate is a gland that is a vital component of the male sexual organs. It is mistakenly known as the prostrate gland. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be a reason for your doctor to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgical procedures. It has just recently been observed that medicines including Docetaxel can be helpful in treating prostate cancer.
