The prostate is a component of the masculine sexual organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly known as the prostrate, rather than prostate. There is also a laboratory blood test that can measure the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which can be normally very low. Raised test results might indicate a disorder within the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or a cancerous prostate. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for your doctor to investigate more thoroughly. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgical procedures. It has only recently been observed that drugs like Docetaxel are useful in the treatment of cancer.

Stimulating the prostate gland in men has been compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for clinical value or primarily for sexual fulfillment.
