The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be a reason for your doctor to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even surgical procedures. It has just recently been noticed that drugs like Docetaxel can sometimes be useful in the treatment of cancer.
