The prostate is a gland that is a component of the male sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly known as the prostrate, rather than prostate. The prostate's main function is to produce and then store a see-through liquid that is a vital part of seminal fluid. A non-diseased individual's prostate is a bit bigger in size than a walnut. Elevated test results could suggest disease in the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or a cancerous prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can be grounds for your physician to investigate with additional tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even surgery. It has only recently been noticed that drugs such as Docetaxel could be helpful in the treatment of a cancerous prostate.

Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massage of the prostate whether for clinical or strictly for sexual purposes.
