This page is all about symtoms of chronic non bacterial prostatitis
The prostate is a gland that is part of the sex organs of the male. It is mistakenly called the prostrate, rather than prostate. Its main role is to secrete and then store a clear liquid that is a vital component of seminal fluid or semen. A healthy man's prostate gland is somewhat bigger in size than a shelled walnut. It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It is also positioned in front of the rectal area and a portion of it can be felt while undergoing a rectal exam.
Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is named prostatitis. If the prostate becomes enlarged it can stop the urine stream, making urination painful and difficult and in extreme situations totally impossible. Prostatitis is commonly treated with antibiotic medications, massage of the prostate or surgical measures.
In older-aged men, the prostate can grow to the point where urination becomes difficult or impossible. This is termed bPH/benign prostatic hyperplasia. It can be treated with different types of medicines or with operations that removes a portion of the prostate. One very typical operation used in these types of cases is called transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR or TURP).
Prostate cancer is one of the most frequent cancers that affects older-aged men and a leading cause of dying. Regular rectal exams are medically recommended to discover prostate cancer in the early stages. There is also a blood test that can measure the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which is normally quite low. Raised bloodwork PSA results could signal disorder inside the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or a cancerous prostate. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can lead your doctor to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgical procedures. It has only recently been noticed that drugs like Docetaxel can sometimes be helpful in treating cancer.
Stimulating the prostate gland in men has been compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful experience of orgasm. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for clinical or strictly sexual purposes.
