The prostate gland is a vital part of the masculine sexual organs. It is mistakenly known as the prostrate. Raised blood PSA results can signal disorder within the prostate, either prostatitis, bPH or a cancerous prostate. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between them, but can be a reason for a physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even operations. It has just recently been observed that medications like Docetaxel can sometimes be effective in the treatment of prostate cancer.
