Welcome. Here is a site about transrectal ultrasound of prostate and biopsy
The prostate is a vital part of the male sexual organs. The prostate gland is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The prostate gland's leading role is to secrete and store a see-through fluid that is part of semen (seminal fluid). A non-diseased human's prostate gland is a bit bigger in size than a shelled walnut. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra beneath the urinary bladder. It is also positioned in front of the rectal region and part of it can be felt during the course of a rectal examination.
Inflammation in the prostate gland is called prostatitis. If the prostate grows too large it can obstruct the urine stream, making urination difficult and painful and in very severe cases wholly impossible. Prostatitis is commonly treated with antibiotic prescription drugs, prostate massage or even operations.
In men who are elderly, the prostate often enlarges to the point where urination becomes difficult. This is called bPH/benign prostatic hyperplasia. It can be treated with the use of medicines or with operations that removes a portion of the prostate. One very typical operation used in these types of cases is called transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR or TURP).
Prostatic gland cancer is one of the most commonplace cancers that strikes elderly men and a leading cause of deaths. Consistent rectal exams are medically recommended to uncover prostate cancer before it spreads. There can be also a blood evaluation that measures the amount of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is, in normal men, quite low. Elevated blood PSA results might signify disorder inside the prostate, whether prostatitis, bPH or cancer. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can lead your physician to investigate further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgical procedures. It has recently been found that medicines like Docetaxel may be effective in the treatment of cancer.
Stimulating the prostate in men has been compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful sexual climax. Prostate massage or prostate milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for medical value or strictly for sexual fulfillment.
