Welcome to our site about treatment enlarged prostate BPE
The prostate is a gland that is an important part of the sex organs of the male. The prostate is mistakenly called the prostrate. Its overriding job is to produce and store a transparent liquid that is a component of semen, or seminal fluid. A healthy human prostate is slightly bigger than a walnut. It surrounds the urethra beneath the urinary bladder. It is also positioned in front of the rectum and part of it can be felt during the course of the rectal examination.
Inflammation of the prostate gland is known as prostatitis. If the prostate grows too large it can occlude the urine stream, making urination painful and difficult and in very severe cases completely impossible. Prostatitis is commonly treated with antibiotic prescription medications, prostate massage or operations.
In men who are elderly, the prostate may grow to the point where urination becomes difficult. This is named benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly called BPH. It can be treated with the use of medications or with surgical measures that removes part of the prostate. One commonplace surgical procedure used in such cases is called transurethral prostate resection (TURP or TUR).
Prostatic gland cancer is one of the most frequent cancers that affects elderly men and a leading cause of deaths. Regular rectal exams are recommended to uncover prostate cancer early. There is also a lab blood test that can measure the amount of a protein, PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen), which is also normally very low. Elevated blood PSA results might indicate a disease within the prostate, whether prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or cancer. The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can be grounds for a physician to investigate more. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or surgery. It has only recently been discovered that medications such as Docetaxel can be useful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Stimulating the prostate in males is typically compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can cause more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massage of the prostate whether for clinical value or strictly sexual purposes.
