The prostate is a vital part of the male sex organs. The prostate is mistakenly called the prostrate gland. Its most primary job is to first produce and then store a see-through fluid that is a vital part of semen (seminal fluid). A normal man's prostate is somewhat larger than a walnut. The PSA test cannot distinguish between them, but can cause a physician to investigate even further. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or surgical measures. It has recently been noted that drugs such as Docetaxel are useful in the treatment of a cancerous prostate.
