Wecome to this site about urethral and bladder pain from prostate cancer
The prostate is a vital component of the sex organs of the male. It is mistakenly known as the prostrate. The prostate's principle job is to produce and then store a clear fluid that is a vital part of semen. A normal human's prostate gland is slightly bigger than a walnut. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It is positioned in front of the rectum and a portion of it can be felt while undergoing the rectal part of the exam.
Inflammation of the prostate is a gland that is termed prostatitis. If the prostate becomes too large it can impede urine flow, making urination very painful and more difficult and in very severe cases wholly impassable. Prostatitis can usually be treated with antibiotic prescription drugs, prostate massage or even operations.
In older men, the prostate can enlarge to the point where urination becomes difficult. This is named benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. It can be treated with the use of medications or with even surgical procedures that removes a component of the prostate. One very typical operation used in such cases is called transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR or TURP).
Cancer of the prostate is one of the most commonplace cancers that strikes elderly males and a leading cause of dying. Regular rectal exams are highly recommended to pick up prostate cancer in the early stages. There is also a laboratory blood test that can measure the concentration of a protein, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), which is normally very low. Elevated test results could suggest disorder in the prostate, either prostatitis, benign hyperplasia or a cancerous prostate. The PSA test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can cause your doctor to investigate with additional tests. Prostate cancer is treated with hormonal manipulation (preventing testosterone production), radiation or even surgery. It has only recently been noted that drugs including Docetaxel may be helpful in the treatment of cancer.
Stimulating the prostate gland in males is often compared to stimulation of the G spot in females because prostate stimulation can result in a more powerful orgasm. Prostate massage or milking refers to massaging motions of the prostate whether for health-related or strictly for sexual purposes.
