The PSA blood test cannot distinguish between these conditions, but can cause your doctor to investigate more closely. Prostate cancer is treated with hormone manipulation (prevention of production of testosterone), radiation or even surgical procedures. It has recently been discovered that drugs such as Docetaxel can be effective in treating a cancerous prostate.
